G (Giorgos) started doing Eurotrips from when he was 18. It was always with a bunch of friends and free camping all the time. He is no stranger to travel and he also has a habit of always challenging himself. So everytime he goes for a trip, it will be crazier and crazier and he will always try something he had never tried before.
G is also a very extreme person (in a good way) and can go from zero to hero in a matter of seconds! He decided one day that he wanted to run as a hobby, 2 years later he is running Ultra marathons. He didn't want to go to the army, then decided to be in Special Forces. He has a fear of heights and his way to battle it is to climb mountains and fly dirt bikes. So he started rock climbing, mountain climbing, winter climbing, ice climbing all the way to Canyoneering. The overacting part, for example, is him doing the Camino de Santiago, from France to Spain to nearly Portugal, that's 1000 kms on foot! Another very good example is him climbing Mt. Olympus and Mt. Everest the same year!
After Everest, he told himself that he deserves a vacation so he spent time in Thailand to learn how to dive. He liked is so much that he even took a second degree.
He always put himself in physical challenges so he thought, why not try to challenge his mind. He found a meditation center in India and went there for 12 days silent meditation retreat. Before this, he hasn't done any meditation in his life! The physical activities, he can prepare and take lessons for, but the meditation, he just went and experienced it there.
This is a very short briefing for G will probably not do him any justice because this is the toned down version. He is more interesting in real life :)
You will get to know him more through the posts and videos of not only our travels but our everyday life.
He has a bunch of dramatically certified talents 😂
-Open water adventurer (Scuba diver Lvl2)
-Canyoning Level 4
-Survival Techniques (during Special Forces training)
-Applied Information Technology and Multimedia
From all these, he is The life hack. This is also why we are comfortable camping in the wild, somehow he has an idea what we could face in the mountains (at least he is supposed to know all these things! 😂).
The life I had was pretty boring, until now!
I used to work a 50-hour per week job in Thailand and only get to travel once every 3 months for a week or so. Saving while working then spending until zero then working again. Luckily where I lived, Phuket, is a very beautiful city and has even more beautiful beaches.
My first travel out of the country was when I was 14, it was with the whole clan to Hongkong. All the family was there, aunts and uncles and cousins. This trip made me realize that i want to see and learn more about the world.
Fast forward to adulting, I was working in the hospitality industry and was meeting lots of travellers, this is also what I was doing on my days off.
Even with these travels, I felt something was missing, then I learned about Couchsurfing and instantly signed up and hosted people. I was meeting people from all over the world, and each with their own unique story to tell, why they travel and how they do it. They helped me see what is really important - time and that you have to do things now that you have it and really enjoy your life.
It was such a great experience and after quitting my job, I packed my things and started my life on the road. I flew to Jakarta to join some friends and started the colorful and always interesting life of hitchhiking and couchsurfing.
One year now, I am in Greece and as I see it, this will be my base for a long, long time.
Also, I rarely take photos of places with me inside, so I need to dig far and back for photos with my face on it :P
My talents are:
-Stairs and Ladders Climbing
-Master of side comments
-Applied acting to get away from pranks
-Just learned how to swim in open waters!
-Cooking (especially Filipino food and of course eating it!)
-Following the Master of the ceremony in my own way 😂
